MY INTERVIEW: Dr. Ian Smith

AC AND DOC IAN
Dr. Ian Talks with AC about Happiness during emotional or economic hard times, Exercise, Sex, Celebrities and Music.

Dr. Ian Smith always looks pretty happy, even when he’s berating guests on “Celebrity Fit Club” who can’t get their weight loss strategies together. Maybe it’s good health - or maybe it’s that Dr. Ian knows what it takes to be happy.

Now, he’s sharing his insights in his new book, “Happy: Simple Steps to Get the Most Out of Life.” Smith says that the key is to appreciate the little things in life. He found out that despite all the material advantages that many people have in the United States, it is not the world’s happiest country. That distinction belongs to Denmark.

“They believe they’d like to have it all, but accept that they can’t have it all,” he told the Atlanta Journal-Constituion, “so they’re grateful for what they have and don’t think about what they don’t have. In the U.S., people always want more. They’re never satisfied.”

In “Happy,” you can expect to find that happiness has nothing to do with money or beauty, fame or shopping. Nope, not even losing weight necessarily makes you happy, though it’s possible that if you’re healthier overall, you can enjoy life more.

Dr. Ian touches on several keys to happiness in his book. They include:

- How to be optimistic
- Why optimism and realism are not opposites
- How to get outside yourself
- The importance of family and community
- Why involvement leads to contentment
- Shedding the treadmill mentality of getting and spending
- Tapping the power of simple pleasures
- Mastering modern life to live in the moment
- What we can learn from the Danish people
- How to be, not just to do

Smith uses scientific research to prove his points and makes the case that happiness is somewhat set by genetics, but that much of what allows you to be happy is in your control. If he can do for happiness what he’s done for health, then he’s probably on to something.

ANOTHER SHOOTING IN CHICAGO, WTF!

When is the violence going to stop?
I had to bring back Nas's Letter to the 'Young Warriors in Chicago'!

Dear Young Warriors fighting the wrong wars! Killing each other is definitely played out. Being hurt from the lost of a love one was never cool.

Dear Young Warriors fighting the wrong war! I know that feeling, that frustration with life and needing to take it out on someone, any one. But....

We chose the dumbest things to go the hardest for. I remember seeing deaths over 8 ball jackets, Fila sneakers, and name plate chains. Deaths over "he say, she say"!!!!! "I'm from this block or I'm from that block", or "my moms n pops is f*cked up now the whole world gotta pay"!!!

I remember feeling like I was the hardest "n*gga" breathing. And I couldn't wait to prove it. But let's think. What are we really proving?? And proving what to who?? Everybody knows Chicago breeds the strongest of the strong but I just feel, me, being ya brother from another state feels your pain as if I grew up with you in ya very own household.

You have the ability and mindpower to change they way we are looked at. Look who's watching us young warriors, look who's throwing us in jail constantly, look at the ignorance in the world. Look at the racist dogs who love to see us down. Loving to bury us in the ground or in jail where we continue this worthless war on one another.

Young warriors.... We are WASTING more and more time. We gotta get on our jobs and take over the world. Cuz this movie left the theaters years ago, Juice, Menace, Boys n the Hood , Blood n Blood Out, Belly!

When we see each other why do we see hatred? Why were we born in a storm, born soldiers, WARRIORS....and instead of building each other up we are at war with each other.. May the soul of this young person find peace with the almighty. I'm with you young warriors. You're me and I'm you. But trust me! you are fighting the wrong war.

-Nas

May 7, 2010

Two people were reportedly killed in a shooting at the Old Navy store on State Street on Friday morning.

Dispatch reports said shots were fired at the Old Navy at 35 N. State Street shortly before 11 a.m. Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez confirmed that two people have been shot.

FYI, Gun Turn In Day tomorrow, May 8th!

AND I DEF HAVE TO RE-POST THIS MESSAGE FROM MY GUYS TONY SCO AND LEON ROGERS:

Another Story Out Of The 'Book Of Steps To Fame-Whoredom"

Are you not selling enough albums, Mario? Because this move sounds like it came straight out of "Kim Kardashian's Book Of Steps To Fame-Whoredom."

Mario has begun dating Amber Rose's BFF (and rumored lesbian lover) Dez.

This is the same Dez who got us talking last year when she posted some really "friendly" photos of her and Amber on her Myspace page. Here's one of the pics:

And the same Dez who, not to long ago, was engaged to Mario's own manager J. Erving (son of basketball Hall of Famer Julius Erving).

But Mario has been seen out and about with his new girl on his arm, and he seems completely unashamed. Did I meantion Drake was possibly knockin her down too!

Plus, here's what Amber told Complex Magazine back in August when asked about those infamous photos:
Complex: When the pictures of you and a lady friend hit the blogs, it caused some commotion because people thought you were stepping out on Kanye. Who is that lady and what’s the story?
Amber Rose: [Laughs] I will definitely straighten that one out. That is my bestest friend Dez. She’s been my friend for about ten years now. We were dancers-you know, strippers-together, and that night when we took all those pictures, I was back in Philly and hadn’t seen her in a while, and I was like, “Yo Dez, let’s just take some shots of Hennessy and take some fuckin’ pictures, just for us.” She didn’t realize I do have some type of celebrity-status, and she posted them on her MySpace. Kanye knows that that’s just my friend, we’re not lesbian lovers. Everybody made a big deal out of that and it’s like, how many girls do that everyday and take silly pictures?

Read the rest of the Complex article here: Amber Rose: “I’m Not Into Threesomes”

Word has it, when J. Erving found out Mario was getting it in with his chick, he left as his manager. While some sources say Mario fired him and his whole team for not doing their job and making him the new "R&B king". I'll leave that latter aspect alone.

Nas Interview Speaking About The "Distant Relatives" Album, If Lyrics Matter In The Game & More.

AC Side Note: I actually saw Nas and Damian Marley perform for the FIRST TIME together, at Rock the Bells last summer, before they started recording. At first, I thought it was the massive clouds of 2nd-hand smoke I was inhaling that made it seem like a good idea, but now that I’ve heard the album it wasn’t the green talking.

"Distant Relatives" (Island) album, out May 18.

Here are some pics from their FIRST EVER performances together that I WENT TO!:

VIDEO: Floyd Mayweather vs Shane Mosley Highlights + After The Fight Interview

Las Vegas Floyd "Money" Mayweather defeated "Sugar" Shane Mosley by unanimous decision improving to a perfect 41-0-0 with 25 KOs.

With the exception of some hard rights landed in the second round, Mosley was completely outmatched by the younger Mayweather for most of the fight.

"Sometimes you're going to get hit with big shots, you have to suck it up and fight hard like a warrior," Mayweather said of the second round where he seemed to be stunned. But he more than recovered in subsequent rounds.

In a very lopsided contest a more efficient Mayweather landed 208 total punches to Mosley's 92. They threw 477 and 452 punches respectively.

The question remains now if Mayweather will finally fight Manny Pacquiao. The undefeated fighter insisted that he would fight Pac Man but only if he submitted to a blood and urine test.

"I just want to fight on an even playing field," he concluded. "I want to be treated fairly."
